Truth is, you should almost never, ever, preorder a video game.
A preorder does virtually nothing for you, but it does a great deal for various other parties.
First off, it’s a free loan.
You’re essentially giving a game retailer 5 or more dollars for free.
How does pre ordering games on Amazon work
You can easily pre-order items on Amazon, allowing you to order not-yet-released items in advance. A pre-ordered item will ship either when it’s released or just in advance of its release, and your card will typically not be charged until the item has shipped or a few days beforehand.
When you preorder a game when do you get it
For software and video games your pre-order will be shipped as soon as it’s available for release. Using ground shipping, you should receive your software or video game order within 3–5 business days of its release (in rare cases, it may take up to 10 days).
Can pre orders sell out
For less popular titles or products, the percentage is lower, somewhere in the range of 15-18 percent of total sales made on the first day of pre-order availability. The most in-demand products can sell out of pre-orders within minutes or hours, so we aren’t including those campaigns in the 28 percent figure.
Does pre ordering cost money
We won’t charge you for the pre-order until release day, and will send you an e-mail to confirm when the item is available in Your Games & Software Library. If you’d like to cancel your pre-order before release day, go to Your Games & Software Library and click Cancel pre-order.

A: You will not be charged at the time you place the pre-order. Only when your item ships will your credit card be charged. If you order additional items along with your pre-order, you will be charged for each item as it ships.

When will my pre-order arrive? As long as your order is placed before 4 pm on the day before release day and payment is processed without any issues, we would expect you to receive your game on release day. Our orders are dispatched up until 5 pm the day before release.
